FLEETWOOD – GRQ Used Furniture on Route 222 in Fleetwood is hosting its annual Spring Craft Event on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sponsored by GRQ Used Furniture, a family business, and Summer Rust, a rapidly growing new space for vendors to sell their unique pieces, the purpose of this event is to encourage people to shop locally.
Currently, over 45 local vendors have signed up, including four local food vendors, UpDog Hot Dogs, Rebel Hive Meadery, Appetite Satisfaction and Doughboys Kitchen. Hannah Violet, singer, musician and songwriter from Native Berks County, performs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from the annual raffle will be donated to Ronald McDonald House.
“Supporting small businesses and local shopping has always been a passion as a small business owner myself, and now with the force with which the pandemic has hit and affected the world, we would like to engage the community to bring back warm weather and joy to all people. We have seen the need for community support throughout 2019 and 2020, our events are always a huge success and a great support for our local small businesses,” said owner Jack Arrack.
Inside the main building, GRQ Used Furniture will also be offering 20% off all items marked JMA or GRQ. Sales do not include items already reduced or on promotion.
Arak started buying and selling when he was 8 years old with his father. Growing up, every weekend and many days after school were spent shopping for furniture on house calls. In 1986, Arak converted a small space on his parents’ farm to sell. Later he bought a bigger property and eventually rented a warehouse, which started GRQ Used Furniture.
In 2014 Arak bought the original farm where it all started with his parents.
