Organize Your Entertainment Centers in Five Simple Steps
Entertainment centers are those special rooms or space inside the home that are specifically used for setting up TVs, stereo equipment, radio, game consoles, DVDs and other stuff intended for entertainment purposes. They can be set up in any room, depending on how many gadgets you have and how big they are. Because of the frequency with which they are being used, entertainment centers can get messy and cluttered pretty much quickly, and if left unorganized, can accumulate a fair amount of dirt in no time.
The entertainment centers designed by manufacturers today tend to have a lot of drawers, shelves that slide out and cabinets of various sizes. These are made for the purpose having everything organized in their appropriate places of storage. But most often than not, things can quickly get messy and in disarray. If your entertainment center is currently in this state, here are four simple things you can apply to make sure that it stays properly organized for a long time.
Step 1: Empty your entertainment center.
It is important to have your entertainment center kept clean and purged of unwanted stuff. You can do this by taking out everything first so you can better organize it later on. Once everything is taken out, have a soft piece of wet cloth to wipe dirt off every surface and corner. To make sure that it’s really clean, you can then use a dry clean cloth to help dry out all the corners and surfaces.
Step 2: Discard what you no longer use.
Now, pay attention to the stuff you’ve just taken out from your entertainment center. Throw away those that you no longer need, or better yet, have them set up in a garage sale. These things could be DVDs you no longer watch, CDs you no longer listen to, a broken player, a stereo that you would like to replace, etc. You may also give them to charity if you want to. The important thing is to discard them to create more space inside your entertainment center.
Step 3: Organize your DVDs/CDs.
Most of you probably has accumulated a fair amount of DVDs and CDs all these years. Those that you have chosen to keep, you must organize them in such a way that it will be easy for you to locate them should you need them at a moment’s notice. You can either do this by arranging them by genre, or alphabetically, or in any order that you find suitable for you. Here’s a hint: before you stack them in one of the cabinets of your entertainment center, arrange them on the floor first. Know how many pieces will fit inside the cabinet or drawer you wish to put them in. This way, after arranging them on the floor, you can just slide them easily inside one of the drawers or cabinets.
Step 4: Remove or Reduce Knick Knacks.
Entertainment centers can also be used for displaying other ornaments and knick knacks such as figurines, photo frames, vases, etc. Over time, they may have accumulated to a number that is no longer pleasing to the eyes. Discard hose that you no longer find attractive and just keep a few special pieces that go well with the rest of your entertainment center. These pieces should serve as decorative pieces that highlights the best features of your entertainment center, and not as eye sore and clutter.
Step 5: Put everything back in your entertainment center.
After taking everything out, discarding what you no longer need and want, choosing only the DVDs and CDs you will still use, and picking the best knick-knacks for your entertainment center, then you may put everything back, provided that they’re clean and dust-free. Make sure that you assign a particular cabinet or drawer for each type of item for easy location and make sure all the electronic devices are together.
Now, take a look at what you’ve made. Isn’t your entertainment more pleasing to the eyes now? Isn’t it amazing what a little organization can do to your room? Organizing entertainment centers are not only good for the improvement of the overall look of your room, but it helps clean out the clutter in your mind too. Now you can fully enjoy watching that favorite movie of yours, clutter-free.
