Should I Do a 4 day or a 5 Day Learn to Dive Course?
I get asked this regularly here at my travel website and the answer is pretty easy. We specialise in orgainising all tours, reef cruises and Cairns Accommodation , nevertheless as a scuba crazed individual myself, I tend to look after Scuba Diving in Cairns and Cairns Learn to Dive clients. I usually leave the annoying backpacker accommodation and car hire bookings to the girls.
If you have time I extremely advise you to do the 5 day learn to dive course. You are only going to learn to dive once, so make the most of it.
It’s almost like doing a course and trip combined into one.
With a 4 day course you’ll do four dives, which is the minimum requirement to pass your dive certificate. They will all be “learning dives”.
A 5 day course will usually give you nine dives. Now the first 4 are training dives but for the next five dives you are a qualified diver. One of these usually is also a night dive. Another advantage is that the dives will be with the other divers from your class who have similar skill levels as you.
So the first dive trip you do after finishing your course you will have already done 5 certified dives and be that little bit more skilled and confident.
Also the cost per dive is the best value.
You may even want to extend your learn to dive course into a 6 day scuba course and get an advanced certification, but thats a different post.
So I hope I’ve helped all you budding Scuba Divers out in cyberland.
